Ex-Fire From The Gods Vocalist AJ Channer Issues Statement on Arrests (2026)

The music world was recently shaken by some shocking news: former Fire From The Gods frontman, AJ Channer, is facing serious charges.

In a turn of events that has sent ripples through the music community, the details of AJ Channer's arrest record have come to light. The band Fire From The Gods, notably, had already moved forward, announcing in March of 2025 that Myke Terry, formerly of Volumes, would be taking over vocal duties.

This week, the specifics of Channer's legal troubles emerged, revealing a December 19th, 2025 arrest related to child endangerment involving a child 8 years or younger, alongside a May 7th, 2024 charge of assault against a pregnant person. These revelations have sparked significant discussion, especially given Channer's openness about his struggles with mental health and sobriety on social media.

Channer responded to these revelations on January 10th, offering his perspective on the situation. His statement touches on the timing of the information's release, the 2024 charges, and the more recent allegations.

Here's what he had to say:

"It is unfortunate that we live in a world where a band uses the struggles of someone they used to call a friend to promote the release of their new single. The timing of the release of this information is not a coincidence.

That said, the 2024 charges have been addressed by my wife thoroughly on social media. There is no more to add. I have been in the midst of the recovery process ever since.

The new charges were triggered by someone who has no idea of what we are going through calling authorities. Because I’m in recovery and past substance use shows up in hair analysis (and substance use endangers children) those charges were laid. That is all these charges are about.

Thanks to those who have supported my recovery. I am committed to being the best person I can for my family, friends and fans. Jah Bless"

But here's where it gets controversial... The timing of these revelations coincides with Fire From The Gods' premiere of their new single, "Human." Since leaving the band, Channer has been focused on his solo project, CHNNR.

And this is the part most people miss... The statement implies a potential conflict or strategic timing in the release of this information. The situation raises questions about the intersection of personal struggles, legal issues, and the music industry. What do you think about the timing of the news release? Do you think the band is using the situation for promotion? Share your thoughts in the comments!
